They Appealed to Heaven. We Must Too.
On July 4, 1776, a small group of men signed their names to a declaration that called upon "the Supreme Judge of the world" and expressed "a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence."
They were not just founding a nation. They were making a covenant appeal to heaven.
This Sunday, May 17, something is happening that echoes that moment.
Rededicate 250 — a national jubilee of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving — comes to the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Open to all Americans. And timed deliberately to precede the nation's 250th birthday this July 4th.
The Church is moving before the celebration on Independence Day. I like that.
The gathering is organized around three pillars:
The Miracles that Made Us.
The Miracles Still in Our Midst.
A New Birth of Faith and Freedom.
From morning fellowship in front of the U.S. Capitol to an evening of worship, the day is structured as an act of national rededication … giving thanks for 250 years of God's providence and asking for His guidance for the next 250.
Ambassador Monica Crowley, U.S. Chief of Protocol for major U.S.-hosted events puts it plain:
"In order to restore our nation back to those core pillars, you have to have God."
This is founding-era DNA speaking through a modern voice.
George Washington said it. Benjamin Franklin said it on the floor of the Constitutional Convention when he called the delegates to prayer: "I firmly believe that without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel."
They said it out loud. And now, 250 years later, a generation is being called to say it again.
You don't have to be in D.C. to be part of this. The event will be livestreamed through partner churches and ministries nationwide. Churches in all 50 states are registering to pray together in real time.

This is not a spectator moment. This is a kingly and priestly moment.

We say what the founders said: we cannot do this without You. We acknowledge 250 years of Your mercy, Your providence, and Your intervention on behalf of this nation. Receive our gratitude. Receive our rededication. Let this gathering release something in the Spirit over America. Let it mark a turning point. May what begins on that Mall carry forward into the next 250 years. "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV).
🌅 A New Birth of Faith and Freedom — Lord, we pray for a genuine spiritual awakening to accompany the national celebration this summer. Let July 4th, 2026 not just be a birthday party but a covenant renewal. Stir the Church. Awaken the nation. Let the prayers offered this Sunday echo through the halls of government, into homes, and across generations. King Jesus, this nation is Yours.

King Jesus, have your way in all things. “He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked” (Isaiah 11:4 NKJV). [We may be seeing a foretaste, a kindling of the fulfillment of Isaiah 11:4 now, with complete realization at Christ’s coming. Take it to the Lord and discern.]
🛡️ Sovereign protection of our leaders. Father, we invoke your hand of protection over leaders in our nation. Foil the plans of lawlessness.
🔥 As you pray, tune in to the Father’s heart. Resonate with the sharp prayer edges he surfaces in the Spirit. Leave “white space” in prayer for fresh prayer themes improvisation.
