Valued Praying Americans,

The fireworks have quieted for now. Mostly. But here's a question worth sitting with: are you still standing at attention, or did you stand down when the weekend ended?

Some celebrate for a day. Others are called to stay ready every day after. This issue is about the second group… as we anticipate the balance of the summer, this Fall, and then a new season in America.

What will America be in 2030, 2040, and 2050? — Brian

Minutemen were set apart, disciplined, and ready to move. Discover the prayer parallel every intercessor for America needs today.

Minutemen: Set Apart, Ready for Action

Massachusetts, 1774. War hadn't started. But something in some of the colonist’s bones knew it was coming.

So the militia did something smart. They built readiness into the structure itself.

From the broader militia, roughly one in three men were set apart as Minutemen—trained to respond at a moment’s notice.

They were farmers, tradesmen, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and laborers.

Not a separate army. A subset. Chosen from within the ranks, then held to a higher bar. More disciplined. Better armed. Faster. That's where the name came from. It was a leading edge operating standard.

The concept wasn't new. New England had used rapid response companies since the 1600s, sharpened through decades of frontier defense. By the time tensions with Britain boiled over, the framework was already in place.

That moment came April 19, 1775. Lexington and Concord. It wasn't the whole militia that met the British first. It was the Minutemen. Already armed. Ready to position quickly.

The Militia was the wide pool of citizen soldiers, available but general. Minutemen were the sharpened point of that same body, ready to move first.

Many Christians are in a wide pool. But within that body, God has always raised up a subset. More ready. Faster to respond when the providential hand of God moves.

You know if you're one of them. You feel the pull to pray for America before anyone tells you to.

That's assignment.

The Minutemen didn't create the emergency. They were ready when it came. We are called into a subset. Trained. Aligned with some. Armed with the Word. Energized by the Spirit. Ready to move at a minute's notice.

It’s part of America’s DNA. (BTW, we appreciate the British readers of this newsletter. We’re standing with you as you are with us. It’s the same for any other international readers.)

Pray American DNA 🧬

We can draw on America's founding prayers, covenants, documents, and early experiences as "prayer architecture" for today. Adapt the prayer language below to your prayer voice as the Holy Spirit leads.

🎆 Carrying the 250th Forward — Father, thank You for this past weekend. Thank You for 250 years of Your hand on this nation. Don't let the celebration end with the fireworks. Grow in us a love for America that deepens with time. Let this milestone be a starting line, not a finish line. Raise up a generation that celebrates this country more freely, more gratefully, season after season.

📖 A Summer of Readiness — Lord, use this summer to sharpen us the way the Minutemen sharpened themselves before the moment came. Give us hunger to read, to study, to know our history and our times. Let July and August be a training season, not a break from intercession. Prepare us now so we are ready later.

Alertness — Holy Spirit, keep me alert. Let me feel the pull to intercede before the headline breaks, before the vote is cast, before the culture shifts. "Watch and pray …" (Matthew 26:41, NKJV). Let watching be my normal positioning.

🛡️ Lord, protect this nation by Your sovereign hand — You govern nations. We ask for Your protection over America — its people, its children, its institutions. Where the Church has been absent from its post, cover what we have left unguarded. Have mercy on us and hold this nation in Your hand.

As you pray, tune in to the Father’s heart. Resonate with the sharp prayer edges he surfaces in the Spirit. Leave “white space” in prayer for fresh prayer improvisation.
