👆️ Asymmetrical warfare. On Christmas night, 1776, Washington led the Continental Army across the Delaware River to launch a surprise attack on 1,500 Hessians—skilled German soldiers hired by the British—stationed in Trenton, New Jersey. Turning point in the Revolutionary War.

Asymmetrical Warfare in America’s Revolution—Military and Spiritual

America’s birth was anything but conventional.

When the Continental Army faced off against the world’s most dominant military power—the British Empire—they didn’t fight on the same footing. They couldn’t.

⚔️ So they embraced asymmetrical warfare: guerrilla tactics, ambushes, agility, and a deep knowledge of the land. They refused to play by the rules of empire.

And that uneven, unpredictable, underestimated edge was key to their survival and eventual victory.

But this wasn’t just a battle of musket balls and bayonets. There was another conflict raging. Unseen and even more real.

Many of America’s founders and colonists understood they were contending for more than independence. They were FIGHTING FOR A HIGHER PURPOSE. For calling. Covenant. And they fought on that plane with asymmetry too.

They diligently sought heaven’s help with prayer and fasting. They opened public assemblies with Scripture and repentance. They framed their cause in spiritual terms, believing that history turns on the favor of God more than the strength of armies.

They fought a physical battle with guerrilla tactics … but they also fought a spiritual battle with Kingdom Asymmetry.

This dynamic is everywhere in Scripture. We could nearly say it’s a modus operandi of God. It’s a pattern for us today.

Gideon’s 300 took down a massive Midianite army. David ran toward Goliath with nothing but a sling and some stones. Jehoshaphat sent worshipers ahead of the warriors. And battered Paul said, “When I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12.10).

As God’s people align with his heart and purpose, small becomes strategic. Weakness becomes weaponized. Winning comes through the unexpected.

This is part of America’s founding legacy and DNA. And today, when the odds seem stacked against us again, we’re being invited into the same.

In truth, we carry the winning edge with Kingdom Asymmetry.

We ask for heaven’s strategy to help establish lasting peace between Israel and Iran. Let diplomacy be shaped by truth and justice. We pray for a new day for the Iranian people—awakening and freedom. Move hearts. Shift nations. Bring extraordinary success in this issue of global consequence. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
