Samuel Davies’ conviction was that prayer's power shaped both individual lives and the destiny of nations …
The efficacy of prayer is so great as to be inexplicable; it can render impotent the most formidable schemes of men or devils, and procure the most unexpected blessings from God.
Samuel Davies (1723-1761) helped shape colonial America as a pioneering Presbyterian minister and educator. In Virginia's Hanover County, he broke new ground as one of the first non-Anglican preachers permitted to serve.
His electrifying sermons fueled the Great Awakening revival movement, which helped plant the seeds of American independence with many.
As a gifted orator, Davies influenced young Patrick Henry, whose fiery "Give me liberty or give me death" speech would later rally revolutionaries in 1775.
Beyond the pulpit, Davies enriched American religious life through his hymns as one of colonial America's earliest hymn writers. He later served as Princeton's second president, following Jonathan Edwards.

🦅 Let’s join together in prayer for the SENATE’S ROLE IN REVIEWING AND APPROVING APPOINTEES for the new administration. We believe for an administration that SETS A STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE—standing firm against lawlessness and incompetence.
