Praying Friends, history turns on moments like this. And on those willing to stand in prayer with arms lifted high.

This issue … before America was born, a stand for justice foreshadowed our identity. Today, we contend in prayer for American justice.

John Adams defended justice over mob rule after the Boston Massacre—an example America needs now. Let truth and justice rise again.

The Boston Massacre (1770) as depicted in a colored engraving by Paul Revere.

Boston Massacre: The Case That Foreshadowed America's Sense of Justice

This is one of those lesser-known moments in America’s Founding DNA.

But it carries a lot of precedent. In March 1770, a clash in Boston turned deadly when British soldiers fired into a crowd, killing five people. The event became known as the Boston Massacre and caused a huge public outcry.

People were flamed with anger and wanted quick punishment for the soldiers. But John Adams stepped up to defend them. Not because he agreed with what they did, but because he believed in true justice.

JUSTICE BASED ON TRUTH, not anger or mob pressure.

It was an unpopular move, but Adams argued the case with honesty and fairness. In the end, most soldiers were found not guilty. Two were convicted of manslaughter, but none were found guilty of murder.

Adams later said this was “One of the best services I ever rendered my country.” Why? Because he stood for justice even when it wasn’t easy or popular.

Feel relevant today?

John Adams was a leading voice in the formation of the U.S. Constitution in 1787 and also served as the 2nd president from 1797 to 1801.

Right now, facts get twisted, stories get spun up, and justice can be shoved around by power or even public opinion.

We need a fresh dose of Adams-like clarity and courage.

So let’s pray … “Let justice run down like water, and righteousness like a mighty stream.” (Amos 5.24 NKJV)

Let truth be louder than manipulative headlines. We want headlines from God’s Throne.

BTW, one of the best prayers you can pray is to ask God for his headlines over your life.

🗝️ Kingdom prayer key

Expose. Remove. Restore. You have agency in Christ the Lord of All. Pray in a Kingdom sequence:

  • Exposure of evil.

  • Removal of corruption.

  • Restoration of righteousness.

“See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.” — Jeremiah 1.10 (ESV)

Each generation needs to rediscover America’s DNA.

We can draw on America's founding prayers, covenants, documents, and early experiences as "prayer architecture" for today. Adapt the prayer language below to your prayer voice as the Holy Spirit leads.

Manifested Justice

⚖️🗣️ Lord, we cry out for your justice to be seen from coast to coast in America. Go wide, Lord. Go deep. Expose what’s hidden. Elevate the truth. Continue to raise up voices who will not fold but insist on justice.

🛡️🗽 Unreasonable and wicked. "That we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith" (Paul in 2 Thessalonians 3.2 NKJV). Jesus, our Deliverer, protect America from those who hate truth, twist justice, and seek to tear down what You have designed and ordained.

🛡️ Continued protection over the month of July. Lord, we ask for Your providential hand over July across America. Expose every hidden threat. Suppress every plan of violence,

🔥 As you pray, tune in to the Father’s heart. Resonate with the sharp prayer edges he surfaces in the Spirit. Leave “white space” in prayer for improvisation.
